Bulkcarrier approached by presumed pirates

Fri May 17 12:47:17 CEST 2019 Timsen

An unidentified speedboat with persons approached the "Zhe Hai 169" in position 07 40 48 N, 128 29 18 E, approximately 115 miles east of Baganga, Philippines, on May 10, 2019, at 10 a.m. Alarm was raised, the crew mustered, and fire hoses were pressurized. The men in the speedboat were observed to be shouting towards the vessel while holding steel hooks. After 30 minutes of pursuing the vessel, the speedboat aborted the attempted boarding and moved away. Following the incident, the "Zhe Hai 169" resumed its voyage.
