Cargo ship with storm damage refused to enter Zeebrugge port
On Aug 31, 2012, at 03.50 a.m. two deck containers of the "Flintercarrier" were knocked down by stormy wind gusts and fell onto the windlass about25 kilometers west of Goeree in stormy weather so the ship was unable to anchor, and it was decided to proceed to Zeebrugge. The local authorities there refused to give the permission to enter port. The "Flintercarrier" instead returned to Rotterdam where she had sailed from the Prins Wellem Alexander Port on Aug 30 at 11.30 p.m. Here the damage caused to the deck was to be surveyed and repaired because it took too long to get a permission to enter Zeebrugge.
