Ferry bumped into terminal
On Dec 6, 2023, the 'Kitsap' had to be taken out of service until further notice. The vessel was docked at Vashon Island after it bumped hard into the Sothworth terminal due to a still unknown mechanical issue, causing delays at the Southworth Terminal. The ferries 'Squamish' and 'Cathlamet' were serving the Fauntleroy Vashon and Southworth terminal until the issue has been fixed. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqSGQsgOZPI
Ferry delayed after man refused to wear mask and assaulted employee
The 'Kitsap' ferry was delayed an hour and 20 minutes in the night of Sep 11, 2021, when a man refused to put on a mask and became aggressive towards ferry personnel. The 7:40 p.m. sailing from Fauntleroy was delayed at the terminal after a report of a man assaulting a Washington State Ferries employee on the ship. The man, who was in his 50s, was asked to put a mask on during the crossing. When he refused, he became aggressive towards ferry personnel. The man, who had been drinking, was issued a 60-day no-trespass order from Washington State Ferries properties.
Ferry sailings cancelled after suspicious backback was reported
Two sailings of the "Kitsap" were canceled in the evening of Oct 22, 2012, after a passenger reported seeing a man carrying a backpack with a black box inside as the boat was docking in Seattle. Te passenger noticed the man had dropped the box. He reported confronting the man, who supposedly ran off the boat when it docked. State Patrol troopers swept the boat for more than an hour. Bomb-sniffing dogs and a review of security video turned up nothing suspicious. The ferry resumed normal operations.
