Medevac off Mumbai
The Indian Coast Guard medevaced the 65 year old American passenger James Douglas Shirley from the 'World Odyssey' on Jan 19, 2023, 230 miles off Mumbai. The MRCC was notified in the morning that Shirley had suffered a retinal displacement and needed urgent surgery. The ship was en route to Mombasa with 175 passngers on board. The patrol boat 'C 439' was deployed with a medical team on board. The patient was taken to shoore and transported to the Global Hospital in Mumbai. Crew confined in Caen
The 'World Odyssey' berthed in the port of Caen on May 7, 2020. Its 54 crew members must remain confined aboard. After a month spent in the Canaries, the ship was docked in the Herouville basin at 11.30 a.m after spending more than one hour off Ouistreham in the morning before obtaining prefectural authorization to dock. The ship had contacted the Caen port authorities a fortnight ago. There were no health or damage issues on the ship which has been regularly chartered in summer by the University of Colorado (USA) for its students. The majority of the crew Ukrainian staff. They will remain confined for several days before disembarking, after a medical check-up and if they have a plane ticket to return to their country. Some members of the crew were from third countries outside the Schengen area. The company representatives must develop a transportation plan so that each of them can return to their country. Some of the crew will still stay in Caen, to watch over the safety of the 'World Odyssey'. Call at Kirkwall cancelled due to bad weather
The visit to Kirkwall of the "Deutschland", which was due in alongside Hatston Pier on June 14, 2018, has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. Earlier this week OIC Marine Services also gave advance notice that the visit of the cruise ship "AIDAsol" was also cancelled due to the high wind warning.
