Man injured in fall on tanker
A man aboard the "Hig hCourage" in the Atlantic Ocean was rescued by the NYPD on Sep 21, 2017, after he was injured in a fall 18 miles south of Brooklyn. An NYPD Aviation Unit responded immediately with aircraft and quickly arrived at the scene to render aid. The man had passed out after falling 35 feet on the ship. The man had also apparently been suffering shortness of breath, though it was not clear whether that happened before or after he fell. The man was assessed and found relatively stable at that point. Waiting for help by boat was not an option, so he was hoisted onto the helicopter and taken to Staten Island University Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries.
