Ferry troubled at Merak
A number of ferries had troubles at the Merak Ferry Port, Banten, on April 10, 2023, due to bad weather, and the 'Vira Cencama' failed to dock at Pier 1 after being hit by waves and strong winds after previously hitting a light at pier 1. Allision in Merak
On June 21, 2021, at 2.30 p.m. the KMP 'Wira Kencana' allided with a pier at the Merak Port, Banten, causing a pole to collapse. The accident happened in adverse weather in the Merak Sea, Cilegon City, Banten, which made it difficult for the ship to move out of Pier I of Merak Harbour to dock in wind speeds of 20 knots and currents of 7-10 knots. After the accident, the 'Wira Kencana' returned to the dock at Pier I of Merak port. At 4.20 p.m. the ship proceeded to an anchorage. Grounding off Bakauheni
On Jan 7, 2018, around 2 p.m. the "Wira Kencana" ran aground near Bakauheni while entering port. Attempts to refloat the vessel were conducted twice, but without success, and it was decided to wait for high tide, before trying to get the ship off again. There were no passengers on board.
