Smouldering fire in switchbox

Fri Apr 29 13:38:06 CEST 2016 Timsen

On Apr 28, 2016, at 12.30 p.m. a fire broke out aboard the "Wind Lift 1" enroute from Emden to the offshore wind farm Bard Offshore 1. The smouldering fire in a switchbox caused a partial power failure. The crew was able to put out the fire within short time with own means. In the morning of Apr 29 the jack up rig returned to Emden and berthed at the Ems Quay around 6 a.m. for repairs.

Worker missing, crew member injured during search operation

Thu Jan 26 08:56:59 CET 2012 Timsen

On Jan 25, 2012, at 9.15 a.m. a worker fell from a boat landing during construction work of a foundation of a wind turbine 55 nautical miles north-northwest of Borkum. A search was started for the missing man with the "Wind Lift I" as On-Scene Co-ordinator and the lifeboats "Alfried Krupp" of the DGzRS-station Borkum and the "Hannes Glogner" of the Station Norderney as well as a police helicopter and an SAR helicopter of the German Navy. The police helicopter saved a second man which had been involved in the accident and a crew member of the "Wind Lift 1", which was injured during the rescue work, and transported the two to Helgoland. The SAR helicopterstook a diver team out to sea which was searching for the missing. At the time of the accident there were south-east winds of six Beaufort with up to 50 km/h wind speed. Tomorrow, Thursday, representatives of the offshore industry meet the GMRS headquarters in Bremen. There present the life-savers assisted by their policy plans for the construction of US-funded emergency control room operators for offshore wind farms
