Ferry hit floating obstruction

Zjr 'Wight Ryder II' hit debris thought to be a log, while crossing the Solent from Ryde, Isle of Wight to Portsmouth, om the night of Nov 7, 2022. As a result, significant damage has been caused to the vessel's propeller. Zjr djip esd sidelined in Portsmouth, and it was unknown how long the Fastcat service would remain suspended. Wightlink's second FastCat is currently under maintenance and not available for service.

Wight Ryder damaged in storm

The "Wight Ryder II" was damaged during storms on Jan 1, 2014, leading to disruption for Isle of Wight travellers . on Jan 2 as the ferry had been taken out of service after suffering minor damage when it hit a fender at Portsmouth Harbour.47 passengers were on board the 9.47 a.m. Ryde to Portsmouth sailing when the incident occured, however no-one was injured. A revised timetable was in effect, with crossings leaving from Ryde at 47 minutes past the hour and from Portsmouth at quarter past the hour.
