Trawler disabled in Gävle Bay

Sun Feb 04 13:30:56 CET 2018 Timsen

On Feb 3, 2018, the "Westero" was disabled in the Gävle Bay and drifte to shore with 1-2 knots. The master of the fishing vessel contacted the Maritime Administration's Maritime and Aviation Rescue Center (JRCC) in the night, reorting that the trawler had got a wire stuck in the propeller and lost maneuverability. A tug in vain tried to connect to the ship because of the advesrse weather conditions. The "KBV 202" (MMSI-No.: 265819000) of the Swedish Coastgard was deployed from Gävle and arrived on site on Feb 4 at 2 a.m. and managed to take the vessel in tow, while it was 3,5 miles from the shore. The trawler was pulled to Norrsundet by the Swedish patrol vessel on Feb 4 and safely berthed at 3.15 p.m. She left the port of Norrsundet again on Feb 10 at 8.15 p.m. bound to the fishing grounds again.
