Somalian pirates attacked the "Thor Traveler" with RPGs and rifles at 3 a.m. on Apr 17, 2010, in the Gulf of Aden for 10 minutes. The U.S. destroyer "Farragut" received the distress call of the vessel and hunted down the pirates and chased them with a helicopter whose crew watched the pirates throw items — possibly weapons — overboard. A boarding team confiscated pirate paraphernalia and the skiff was instructed to return to the Somali coast.
