Grounding on the Weser
Due to a technical malfunction the ‘Wesertrans‘, 1038 ts (EU-No.: 04011200), got out of control while transiting the Weser coming from Dörverden and sailing towards Langwedel near the village Rieda on Aug 6, 2019, at 6.45 a.m. The ship which was loaded with 1000 tons gravel hit the embankment and drifted perpendicualar to the fairway which was timewise blocked. An appraoching barge from Hamburg went alongside and managed to refloat the ship. It was then towed to the lock in Dörverden and the hull inspected by divers. At 10.30 a.m. the Weser was re-opened for ship trafic. On Aug 7 at 9.45 a.m.the "Wesertrans" berthed in Bremen-Hemelingen.
