Grounding in Würzburg
In the evening of Feb 3, 2019, the "Walhalla", 1765 ts (EU-No.: 04400250; MMSI-No.: 211183280; CS: DC2228), enroute from Würzburg to Neuss, ran aground on the Main in Würzburg near the Lion's Bridge. The ship had chosen the wrong arc to pass under the bridge and got stuck in shallow water between the bridge and the floating restaurant "Mainkuh". On Feb 4 at 7.30 a.m. the river authority Schweinfurt started with the salvage of the vessel. The master was advised to move the stern towards a nearby pier so that a boarding was possible. It was secured with three ropes shoreside and both bow and stern anchor. The barge was refloated by a work boat of the river authority Schweinfurt and was allowed to continue its voyage on Feb 4 at 11.15 a.m. after an inspection. It passed Triefenstein on Feb 5.
