Tank barge holed in collision at Kreekrak Lock

On April 2, 2025, at around 2.45 p.m. the 'Volturno' was in collision with the tank barge 'Nicky' (MMSI: 244690365), which was underway from Utrecht to Antwerp, at the Kreekrak Lock in Reimerswaal, which provides access to the Scheldt-Rhine Canal, in the province of Zeeland. While the unloaded tanker was in a turning manoever, it got before the bow of the approaching cargo ship and was struck amidship at port side. A hole was torn into the hull above the water line. The 'Nicky' berthed at the lock complex after the accident.
