Hole in bow closed with steel plate
On Sep 13 around 4 p.m. the "Volgo Balt 136" departed from Travemuende towards Baltiysk, ETA Sep 16, 2 p.m. The bow damage of the ship was repaired by the machine construction company Tiedemann Travemünder Tiedemann with a welded steel plate at the East Prussia Quay after which the ship was allowed to proceed. Ferry slammed into cargo vessel
The Russian cargo m/v "Volgo-Balt 136", 2457 gt (IMO: 8851390), was being investigated at the East Prussia Quay in Travemuende on Sep 13, 2011. It has suffered a hole of 50 cenntimetres width in a collision with the Priwall-ferry "Pötenitz" (MMSI-No.: 211513520) in the evening of Sep 12 at 9.10 p.m. Repairs to the ferry started on Sep 13 at the Coal Port in Travemuende. The ship had been underway from the Priwall to Travemuende, when the cargo vessel approached running seaward coming from the CT Luebeck. The ferry still gave 3 typhon signals and then slammed into the bow of the Russian vessel. Due to the darkness the hull damage was not remarked at once. When the "Volgobalt 136" was about to back up to the East Prussia Quay, the Trave-Traffic advised the captain to anchor north of buoy 1-3 as other ships were about to pass. Then the police launch "Habicht" was sent which remarked the hull damage. Now the ship raised anchor again and berthed at the East Prussia Quay where the police launched an investigation. The "Poetenitz" moored at Travemuende where the passengers, none of whom was injured, disembarked, before the ship moored at the Coal Port.
