Cruise continued after third incident within a month
After the crane used to move the gangway of the "Viking Foreseti" was removed, the ship could continue its cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam in the foremidday of Sep 24. The crane had got out of proper position and hit an overhead power line over the Main-Danube Canal. The damage caused was around 40000 Euro. The impact had short-circuited the power lines and caused them to shut down. Several lines needed to be replaced. The highway and canal closures lasted until 1 p.m. The "Viking Forseti", which was launched only this year, was already involved in two previous accidents this month. It had run into the stern of another ship win a lock, then a second ship ran into it. No one was injured in either cases, but the accidents resulted in itinerary delays. In the actual case the ship was also delayed due to the inspections for damage at the shore. After a few hours it resumed its course.
