Salvage work remains to be completed
Salvage operations of the 'Vietsun Integrity' had yet to be completed. Officials from the Ministry of Transport on Jan 23 visited the incident site to check on the salvage workers and the progress of the removal of the shipwreck. They urged the crew to complete the salvage operations as soon as possible while ensuring the safety of the people and the environment. Salvors are cutting parts of vessel to remove the wreck from the Saigon - Vung Tau navigational channel.
Wreck cut in pieces
Start of January 2020 the salvors were continuing to cut parts of the sunken 'Vietsun Integrity' to remove the wreck from the Saigon - Vung Tau navigational channel. A safety supervisor and a 24-hour health worker have also been dispatched to monitor and ensured the safety of the crew members involved in the salvage operations to avoid any more accidents.
Body of missing diver recovered
The final missing diver involved in the recovery of the sunken containers from the 'Vietsun Integrity' was found on Dec 16. Local authorities planned to resume the salvage operations soon but they will first assess and review the salvage plan to avoid any other accidents and ensure the safety of everyone involved in the operations.
