Freighter in collision with fishing boat

On Feb 26, 2021, at 8.30 a.m. the 'Vietsun Confident' was in collision with the fishing boat 'KH 00737 TS', 75 ts, with eight fishermen from Khanh Hoa on board while passing through La Gi waters nine nautical miles south of the La Gi estuary (Binh Thuan) in pos. 10030'15"N 107045'54" E. The cargo ship had on board 18 crew members and was carrying more than 6,700 tons of cargo from Ho Chi Minh City to Nghe An. Its crew along with other fishing vessels in the vicinity managed to rescue the whole crew and brought them to shore safely. The captain of the 'Vietsun Confident' quickly informed the Binh Thuan port authority to assist. The 'KH 00737TS' was to be taken to the La Gi fishing port for repairs. The 'Vietsun Confident' continuesd its vpyage to Nghe An. The Provincial Command of the Border Guard has directed the Phuoc Loc Border Guard (La Gi town) to coordinate with the local authorities to care for the eight workers and take measures to support them.

Problems with suction pumps

On Dec 30, 2011, the "MCP Troodos" which was downbound on the St-Lawrence River encountered mechanical problems and had to stop near Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly. The crew had problems with the suction pumps. After attempts to fix the problem during the next hours failed as well as getting the authorization by Transport Canada to leave, in the evening the ship was finally allowed to continue its travel eastbound.
