Trawler saved crew of sunken twin after collision
The 'Eysturbúgvin' sank within 10 minutes about 100 miles north to north-west of the Butt of Lewis, south of the Faroe Islands, in the North Atlantic on April 14, 2022, following the collision with the 'Vesturbúgvan'. The Stornoway Coastguards got a satellite distress call at 5 a.m. There had been no time to issue a regular distress call. The seven crew members were rescued by the other fishing vessel with which it had been fishing. They were in shock and a bit shaken but otherwise unharmed. The castaways were taken back to the Faroe Islands by the sister vessel.
