Ship sailing again after inspections
A detailed underwater insection was carried out at the bottom of the 'Vento', which had run aground at Cape Ammoglossa, Kos island, in pos. 36 55 18 N, 027 16 18 E, on Sep 3, by certified divers, under supervision of aclass surveyor, andH&M experts. An members damage survey was carried out by the attended surveyor panel. As a result of inspection, the vessel was found free from significant damage and in seaworthy condition. An imposed fine and salvage expenses were paid by the local agent on behalf of the owners. The vessel was granted departure permission, heaved up anchor and resumed the voyage on Sep 11 at 11 a.m. with an ETA at the port of destination, Ashdod, as of Sep 13.
Grounding off Kos
The 'Vento' ran aground at Cape Ammoglossa, north of Kos island, on Sep 3, 2023, at 11.50 p.m. UTC, en route from Aliaga to Ashdod with 426 containers as cargo on board. The ship got stuck on sandy bottom and remained stationary in pos. 36° 55.43' N 027° 16.59' E. Vernicos Scafi Tug and Salvage vessels were contracted to assist.
