Armas-Trasmediterránea sells CIUDAD DE CÁDIZ to Grimaldi

Trasmediterránea has announced the sale of the recently renamed CIUDAD DE CÁDIZ to Grimaldi Lines. The CIUDAD DE CÁDIZ is a Visentini-built ro-pax, with a capacity for just under 1,000 passengers and some 2,247 lanemetres for freight plus 190 cars.

Ferry allided with crane

The top bridge mast with radar antenna of the "Albayzian" allided with a portal crane at Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura island, in the night of Oct 13, 2018 during berthing manoevers. The crane was damaged, hampering cargo operations in port. The ferry did not suffer sginificant damages and could leave the port as scheduled bound to Cadiz. The crane operator was blamed for the accident.

Transmediterranea ferry disabled after electrical breakdown northeast of Lanzarote Island

erry ALBAYZIN suffered electrical breakdown northeast of Lanzarote Island, Canary Islands, in the evening Aug 23, while en route from Cadiz to Canary Islands. Ferry with more than 240 passengers was disabled and adrift for some 3 hours. Crew managed to fix the problem, ferry resumed sailing and early in the morning Aug 24 safely reached Arrecife, Lanzarote, but her next sailing to Gran Canaria was suspended until completing necessary repairs. As of 1600 UTC Aug 24, ferry was still at Arrecife.
