Tug assisted distressed migrants

Wed Aug 26 09:51:23 CEST 2020 Timsen

On Aug 25, 2020 at 8.46 a.m., the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed by the Dunkirk semaphore that the ferry 'Dunkirk Seaways' had reported a migrant boat in difficulty in the Dunkirk channel. After contact with the ferry, the CROSS immediately engaged the 'VB Tempête' which was in the area, the surveillance vessel 'Rondache' and the lifeboat 'SNS 276 Notre Dame-des-Flandres' of the station in Gravelines to bring them assistance. The eight castaways were taken aboard the SNSM boat and dropped off at the port of Gravelines at 10:04 a.m. where they were taken care of by the firefighters as well as the border police.
