Ferry suffered technical problems

Wed Dec 18 11:16:39 CET 2024 Timsen

On Dec 12, 2024, the 'Vardehorn' suffered a technical problem and had to be removed from the Levang-Nesna route, The ferry 'Lysingen' was inserted as a replacement, sailing with a reduced timetable, The 'Rødøy' was to take over later, until the 'Vardehorn' has returned to service, but first, the 'Gildeskål' had to be fixed in Bodø before the 'Rødøy' can set course to Nesna, then she will be operating until after the New Year. The 'Vardehorn' moved to Sandnessjøen on Dec 12 for repairs and remained stationary as of Dec 18.

Ferry grounded in Drag

Tue Jul 27 12:58:22 CEST 2021 Timsen

On July 27, 2021, the 'Vardehorn', en route from Kjøpsvik, ran aground at the ferry berth on Drag in the Hamarøy municipality with 41 passengers and eight crew members on board. The police have been notified by the Main Rescue Center about the incident and have conducted an interrogation of the master. A technical failure of the steering gear was thought to have been the cause of the accident. An NSSR lifeboat was called with divers to examine the hull. It was expected on scene around 1 p.m. With a suitable tide and tug assistance the ferry was then to be pulled out again. The passengers remained safe on board.
