Grounding on Azov Don Sea Canal
On Oct 15, 2014, at 09.15 Moscow time the "WElle"ran aground at km 10 on the Azov-Don Sea Canal, Taganrog Bay, in the Azov Sea, after a steering failure. Traffic in the area was closed. At 3.50 p.m. the same day the vessel was refloated with the help of a tug and taken to an anchorage to fix steering. The ship was en route from Rostov-on-Don to Icdas in the Marmara Sea, being loaded with 2900 tons of scrap.
Collision in Azov area
On July 31, 2014, the "Borisfen" and "Welle" were in collision in the Azov area, odin.tc reports. Both vessels were under way with pilots on board and on opposite course. The "Borisfen" suffered dented bulwarks and bulkheads in portside forepeak bilge and tears on the main deck. The vessel was loaded with wheat and was en route to Turkey from Rostov. The "Welle", which was sailing in ballast, was en route to Rostov. At 0500 UTC on Aug 1 the "Borisfen" was anchored on Azov roads, and the "Welle" was docked in Rostov.
Freighter caused oil spill
20 liters of diesel fuel has leaked from athe "Sormovskiy 3048" into the outer port of Glückstadt on Dec 27, 2011. The Russian captain denied a connection between the hull and black oil film floating between quay and his ship. Several water-and oil samples were thus taken. The ship had come from the English Channel to Glückstadt with 10 km/h after an an engine failure. After the spill a special pumping van from Brunsbüttel was requested. The captain planned to leave the port in spite of a broken crankshaft to get to Russia with half speed for repairs. By Dec 31 the ship was still in port.
