Fishing vessels defy Russian missile tests

Mon Aug 14 11:22:07 CEST 2023 Timsen

The "Valdimar H" entered the fishing grounds north of Bjørnøya in the morning of Aug 13, 0223, as the third Norwegian fishing vessel to defy the Russian missile test that has been announced in two larger areas north and south of Bjørøya from Aug 11 to Aug 15. On Aug 12 it was clear that several Norwegian fishing vessels refused to move out of the area, finding it unacceptable that Russian military authorities believed they could shut Norwegian fishermen out of their own fishing grounds. The fishing vessels "Nokasa" and 'Atlantic' were also still located in the southern catchment area with no intention of complying with any requirement to leave the missile test area, stating they had not received any notice from the Norwegian authorities to leave the area and will thus remain there.
