Barge breached in allision

Sat Nov 26 19:08:27 CET 2016 Timsen

The "Vadowesa“, 1200 ts (EU-No.: 02312714), allided with the dolphins sheltering og the railway bridge at Elsfleth in the morning of Nov 26, 2016. The accident happened in dense fog. Train traffic between Nordenham and Hude was interrupted for 90 minutes for investigations. Hours later the master of the ship remarked a list on the Coast Canal and berthed at the canal embankment. The fire rescue Oldenburg was alerted at 1 p.m. and assisted the vessel jointly with the volunteer forces from Eversten and Ohmstede. The barge was enroute from Brake to Bramsche with a cargo of 950 tons soy. Divers found a breach of 10 centimeters length and three centimeters height amidships at starboard side which was temporarily patche. 100 cbm water had accumulated in the double hull and were pumpe out. In the afternoon divers fixed the leak completely. Probably on Nov 28 the ship was to proceed to Oldenburg to unload the cargo and enter a repair yard.
