UACC picks up two tankers for $57m
United Arab Chemical Carriers is said to have purchased two 2010-built products tankers in separate deals for a combined total of $57m. Brokers in Athens are reporting UACC paid $28m for the 47,400-dwt Ocean Leo and a further $29m for the 47,300-dwt Zapphire. One Athens-based broker told ArabianSupplyChain that UACC has "bought a number of ships in the last week." No one from UACC was available for comment when contacted by ASC, with management believed to be in Europe for a series of meetings. Including these recent purchases the Dubai-headquartered company has 17 tankers in its fleet, with an estimated total value of almost $440m.
