Alma under repair at Millingen

Fire 3 days after grounding
The "Alma", 1888 ts (EU-No.: 02326076), which had run aground on the Rhine with a cargo of gravel on July 28, ^2011, caught fire in the morning of Aug 2 on the Rhine River near Tolkamer, while proceeding to a shipyard when the fire broke out. The vessel headed for a nearby quay where local firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. The fire destroyed the wheelhouse, but the living quarters were saved, no one was hurt. Alma pulled off
The "Alma" was pulled off in the evening of July 29 and towed into the Loreley Port by the "Rheinland" and the "Martinus", accompanied by the lighter vessel "Niclas". Also the anchors were recovered in the run of the day, but the river bottom will have to be searched thoroughly for possible obstructions. Up to 80 ships had queued during the time of grounding.
