Expedition ship refloated
The "Ulla Rinman", 93 gt, was ripped off the shallows in the night of July 7 by the "Harstad" of the Norwegian Coast Guard. The ship, beging accompanied by the Coast Guard, headed to Longyearbyen with own power. Passengers were first picked up by the cruise ship "Bremen", 6752 gt (IMO-No.: 8907424), but were transferred onto a boat of the Coast Guard when they met. The expedition boat must be checked before it can be put into operation again. The "Ulla Rinman" is owned by the charter company Ulla Arctic AS and leased to operators in the tourism sector. Grounding in Spitsbergen
The "Ulla Rinman" ran aground in the Liede Fjord in northern Spitsbergen on July 6, 2016, around 6 p.m. The ship had eight passengers and two crew members on board. The passengers were transferred onto the cruise ship "Bremen" and taken to Ny-Ålesund. There was neither a danger to life nor of pollution. The Governor assisted with coordination between the JRCC, the Coastal Administration and the Coast Guard which headed to the site to assist.
