Fishermen assisted distressed migrants
The crew of the 'Nova Cura - UK 48' located a boat with migrants in the North Sea near the British coast in the morning of June 16, 2020. It floated around at an intersection of a busy shipping lane. Among them were three children. It was suspected that the migrants had set off from Calais and attempted to cross to Britain, but got off course. With the exception of one sea sick person, most migrants on board were in good shape. The fishermen took the sick person on board. The cutter called the English coastguard, which eventually took over the remaining migrants. While waiting for the Coastguard, the trawler remained on standby. The crew was not allowed to take any of the group on board by order of the Coastguard.
