Green mamba found in cargo
One of the world’s deadliest snakes, recognised as a highly-venomous green mamba, was found at Aberdeen Harbour on Nov 9, 2016, on board of the "UAL Bodewes". An animal welfare charity, the Scottish SPCA, was called in and rescue officers transferred the animal to the organisation’s Drumoak centre before it was euthanized, because the snake couldn’t be kept in the center. The vessel had arrived at Aberdeen from West Africa, two last ports of call were European – Las Palmas and La Pallice. In Africa the ship called ports in Gabon, Angola, Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea.
