Seven injured in river grounding
On Aug 16, 2012, the "Twin City Liner" which is connecting Vienna and Bratislava ran into the embankment of the Danube at the Erdberger Lände in Vienna. Seven persons suffered slight injuries. The accident happened in the late afternoon. Two persons were treated in hospital, five others on scene. The remaining 100 passengers were taken ashore by the crew and the fire brigade. A software mistake apparaently had caused the failure of both engines. The ship suddenly veered to port, then it got stuck on the right river side in a curve. The "Vindobona" refloated the catamaran ferry which was tested at the Schiffsbautechnische Versuchsanstalt in Vienna in the night hours. On Aug 17 the ship was back in service.
