Detained in Mersin with forged papers, renamed and re-flagged
Strange accident reported by Deniz Haber, Turkey, on Sep 13 13 – according to the news, general cargo vessel Tura was detained in Mersin with forged papers on arrival from Russia with cargo of 2,860 tons of barley, bound for Libya. While in Russian waters, Moldova-flagged vessel was sailing under name of Tura, but she arrived at Mersin under the name of Moon and flag of Tanzania. On a photo Tura under previous name. Last AIS signals were recorded in July. Crew includes citizen of Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Aground on river Don, water ingress
Coaster Nikolay L, loaded with manganese ore, ran aground at around 01:20 Moscow time Jan 26 13 shortly after leaving Rostov-on-Don port on river Don, under unclear circumstances. Either vessel was pushed from channel by ice and was damaged in the process, or was damaged by ice previous to grounding, and was intentionally grounded to avoid sinking. Vessel reportedly suffered cracks in the hull and water ingress. On the map vessel’s position at 14:30 Moscow time Jan 26, nearby vessel is a tug Portoviy 18. Vessel bound for Turkey.
