Fire on luxury yacht
In the morning of Aug 1, 2019, a fire broke out in the engine room of the 34,5-m-yacht "Princess Iluka" which issued a distress call at 11.30 a.m. The Maddalena Coast Guard repsonded to the yacht which was sailing near Punta Crucitta off the island of Caprera with six crew members and five passengers on board. The patrol boat "CP870" was sent to the site as well as the "CP714", which brought the passengers and crew members, all in good health, to Porto Massimo, and the "CP570" was diverted too, already patrolling nearby within the Mare Sicuro operation. The fire brigade attended with a specialized company to prevent fuel spills and out out the fire. The yacht was then towed to Porto Massimo. It was found out that the fire was caused by a short circuit. Due to the fast reaction damage remained limited.
