Greenpeace blocked Jan Maria off Ijmuiden
Greenpeace activists on May 23, 2013, have prevented the "Jan Maria" from docking in the port of IJmuiden. The ship made after several dangerous maneuvers and finally turned back when it was confronted with three boats of the activists of Greenpeace who suspect illegal fishdumping. The ship moved on to the quay of Daalimpex in Velsen-North. According to the owner, the blockade by Greenpeace caused only a few hours delay. Attaching a large banner on the hull was unsuccessful and an activist fell into the sea. He could be saved, but Parlevliet called it an irresponsible action. Police ended Greenpeace operation
In the foremidday of Jan 3 the "Jan Maria" was free agaín and entered the sea lock of Bremerhaven. Chains which had blocked the propeller were removed by divers before. The water police escorted the vessel to open waters. Three swimmers had still tried to block the ship in the morning while it attempted to depart from the port. The police pulled them out of the water. In the afternoon the ship was underway to fishing grounds. Trawler blocked by Greenpeace
The Jan Maria" was blocked by Greenpeace activists in the morning of Jan 2, 2012, in Bremerhaven and thus kpet from sailing. A chain was pulled through the propeller and some activists fastened themselves at the mooring lines. They had already protested on Dec 23 against the ship because of its oversize.
