Car carrier was pushed into quay in Bremerhaven
On June 30, 2012, at 5.10 p.m. the Italian flagged car carrier "Grande Europa" when about to sail from Emden to Wallhamn, caused a quay allision of the Panama-flagged car carrier "Triton Leader". The Italian car carrier was assisted by two tugs on its departure from the Ems Quay, but the ship caused such a swell and suction when passing the "Triton Leader" that the latter, which had already cast off the hawsers being itself about to leave towards Bremerhaven, that it was pushed against the quay. The starboard side stern hit the quay, which was considerably damaged. The "Triton Leader" finally left Bremerhaven around 6 p.m. and meanwhile berthed in the North Port of Bremerhaven.
