Bulkcarrier disabled in Ullsfjord
In the early morning of Sep 11, 2019, the "Trine Charlotte" suffered an engine failure in the Ullsfjord 25 miles northeast of Tromsø. The ship asked for assistance and had to be towed to Tromsø by the NSSR lifeboat "Skomvær 3". The towage was undramatic as the "Trine Charlotte" was 2-3 miles from shore and the weather was calm. She had sailed from Øksfjord to Hjelnes on Sep 8 at 3 p.m. and was safely moored in Tromsø at 11.50 a.m.
Grounding off Vikna
On May 17, 2014, the NSSR lifeboat "Harald V" was called to assist the "Bulk Trans" which had run aground enroute from Rørvik to Laksnes in shallows in Vikna. The ship was stuck with a list to port. The "Fjordtor I" ran aground at Gåsværet, Meloy, in the evening of Oct 5. The ship came from Bodoe and refloated with own power, but suffered severe damage. The rescue boat " Ruth Opsahl" escorted the vessel to Ørnes where divers inspected the hull and found significant damage. The ship was to sail to Rana after the accident.
