Crew of the Triad pulled angler from the sea
A fisherman who was pulled from the sea off the Lizard by the crew of the "Triad" on Dec 4, 2013, has died. The alarm was raised at around 7 p.m. on Dec 4 by a friend when the angler in his sixties did not return to Cadgwith from a lunchtime trip. He had been due back in his small punt at around 4 p.m. That prompted a massive rescue operation with the Lizard lifeboat, a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, and other boats in the area scrambled to the scene. The survey vessel and the fishing vessel "Scorpio" joined the sea search whilst the Coastguard Rescue Teams from Porthoustock, Mullion and the South Cornwall Sector Manager began a search of the coastline. At just before 8 p.m. the survey vessel reported it had pulled the angler from the wate after they had spotted a person in the water wearing a lifejacket. The person was immediately recovered and transferred to the Lizard all weather lifeboat A helicopter from RNAS Culdrose was scrambled and a transfer was made from the all weather lifeboat to the helicopter, and he was then transferred onwards to Treliske hospital for Treatment Doctors were unable to save him.
