Transwood withstood grounding without damage
On Mar 5 the hull inspection of the "Transwood", which had run into the embankment of the Kiel Canal between Kiel and Rendsburg on Mar 4 at 9.50 a.m. and which was refloated by the SFK-tug "Kiel" after a canal closure of 1,5 hours, was finished. As divers had not found significant damage, the ship was allowed to resume its voyage to Antwerp. It entered the Brunsbüttel locks at 3.15 a.m. and is meanwhile in the Northsea with an ETA of Mar 5, 10 p.m. at Antwerp.
Grounding in the Kiel Canal
On Mar 4, 2013, the "Transwood" ran into the embankment of the Kiel Canal between Kiel and Rendsburg after having entered the canal westbound at 8.45 a.m coming from Oulu. The reason for the grounding which occurred while entering the passing Point “Groß Nordsee was unclear. Visibility in the canal was 300 meters. 1,5 hours after the grounding a tug refloated the ship which proceeded to Brunsbüttel-Ostermoor where it berthed at 7.25 p.m. for surveys.
