Convoy refloated by flood wave

Tue Dec 29 11:12:38 CET 2015 Timsen

The "TR 14" (EU-No .: 32200578) was refloated in the afternoon of Dec 28 after more than 30 hours aground in Dresden. The ship had run aground at the Neustädter Shore on Dec 27 at 9.10 a.m. due to a navigational mistake. The attempt to pull the convoy off with the "TR 15" had failed, only one of the two pushed barges was freed and moored at river km 58. On Dec 27 the water works in Usti nad Labem openend the flood gates on request of the German water authorities and thus created a flood wave of 25 centimeters heigth which had to make a way of 100 kilometers before arriving in Dresden. Then the "TR 15" was able to refloat the barges. The convoy then proceeded further to the water works Saloppe. In the afternoon of Dec 28 the Elbe was reopened again for ship traffic in the Dresden region. The Marien Bridge did not suffer damage. Barge convoy stuck in Dresden

Tue Dec 29 11:10:57 CET 2015 Timsen

In the morning of Dec 27, 2015, the "TR 14" from Decin alingwith a 1100-ton pushed convoy got stuck under the Marien Bridge in Dresden. The barges were loaded with soybean meal. The Water Police sent the "Elb Tal - WSP 02" to the site. Apparently, the pushed convoy had been got stuck on the right river bank and then was forced through the counterflow against a bridge pier. The accident was caused by a navigational mistake. Another tug came to the rescue, but when it tried to pull the convoy upriver, the towing rope broke. Another pusher tug of the type TR 15 type was called, and together they tried to move the convoy off the gravel bar.
