Robbers stole engine spares
The 'Torm Venture' was boarded by three robbers armed with long knives in a small boat at the Merak anchorage in position 005 53 57.0S, 105 59 04.2E, on May 17 at 7.25 p.m. The robbers used a ladder to get on board the anchored tanker and forced their way into the steering gear room after breaking the padlock. The alarm was raised and the crew mustered. Hearing the alarm, the robbers fled the vessel and escaped in their boat. A search was carried out and it was reported by the crew that engine spares had been stolen. The Port Control was informed about the incident.
