Thu Feb 25 21:46:54 CET 2021 Timsen

Near the Total refinery in Mardyck, Dunkerque, a fire broke out on Feb 24, 2021, at 1.30 a.m. in the living quarters of the 'Torm Louise', which was carrying a cargo of refined oil and had berthed at the tanker pier short past midnight enroute from IJmuiden. Luckily it did not spread to the cargo. Following a large scale fire alert two large ladders, four fire trucks, 50 firefighters, a unit specializing in long-term exploration and fire boats of the SDIS 59 (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service for the North) were mobilized. The fire could be brought under control quickly using a water lance.
