On Sep 29, 2010, at 6.40 the ferry ramp at Vikholmen serving the "Tomma" collapsed while the ship was approaching on its first day run. The ramp plunged into the sea after a cylinder cracked. No injuries reported. The "Tomma" had to be taken out of service as long as repairs lasted as it was intended to use it as a repair platform. Ferry service to Handnessøya and Tomma thus was interrupted too for the time being. Workers were called from Fauske for this purpose, welders and divers were already on scene at Vikholmen. It was hoped to have the repair finished in the run of the day.
