Medevac off Réunion
An injured sailor, aged 28, was medevaced from the "Tomi Maru No. 58" off Réunion on June 21, 2016. The Indonesian man was hoisted by a Panther-helicopter of the surveillance frigate "Nivose" of the French Navy. The accident had occurred on June 17 at midnight. The sailor was seriously wounded in the left arm while the vessel was fishing. First aid was provided on board by the ship's crew to stabilize the victim. Given the serious injuries to his left arm, the Japanese authorities requested to organize an evacuation quickly. Given the remoteness of the fishing vessel, a medical examination was carried out regularly by the medical consultation center in Toulouse. The helicopter took off from the air detachment 181 in the morning of June 21 around 3:00 to transfer a doctor and a nurse on board the ship. After placing the wounded on a stretcher, the helicopter airlifted him and the medical team at 7:20 a.m. The man was delivered to the Félix Guyon Hospital in Saint-Denis about 08:00 a.m.
