Dredger caused oil spill
On June 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. the "Toenne" lost about 700 liters of hydraulic fuel during repair works in Thyborøn. Five emergency vehicles with a total of 16 men were sent to the port to contain the oil and clean up the harbor. The oil drifted onto the opposite side of the dock, where it could be collected. It was, however, expected to take most of the day to finish removing the oil.
Tønne in collision off Thosminde
The Danish dredger "Helle Saj" (IMO: 8874407), sank in the afternoon of Nov 21, 2011, off Thorsminde following a collision with the "Tønne". The crew of two was rescued by the "Tønne". The "Helle Saj" was leaving port and the "Tønne" approaching, when the ships hit. The "Helle Saj" capsized immediately, and the crew saved themselves by a jump into the water before being pulled aboard the "Tønne". The "Helle Saj" remained partially visible lying on its side, about 200 metres off the port. The "Manø" of the Danish Navy was soon on site, and the anti pollution vessel "Gunnar Thorson" called from Frederikshavn and expected on scene on Nov 22. However, there was no diesel aboard the "Helle Saj". Divers were to undertake first surveys on Nov 22.
