Refloating attempt at Osterhofen failed
The "Tisza", 191,2 dwt (EU-No.: 8657043) being underway with two barges loaded with 2070 tons coal ran aground twice on the Danube. On Mar 6, 2014, it got stuck at river km 227 near Mülheim. The river was closed for five hours during the salvage work. An investigation was launched against the Slovakian master. The ship had got stuck on a well known shallow. Ony 600 meters further the vessels enroute to Passau ran aground another time on Mar 7 at 8.30 a.m. They were turned towards the right river shore by the current and remained aground outside the fairway in a gravel bed. The Regensburg river authority sent personnel to the scene, the police Deggendorf launched another investigation. In the morning of Mar 9, 2014, the pusher tug "Arkona" started attempts to pull off the vessels. Ship traffic was interrupted during the work. However, the "Tisza" remained stuck, and further attempts were disrupted by the falling water level.
