Medevac off Galveston
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 66-year-old man approximately 92 miles offshore of Galveston, Texas, in the morning of Nov 9, 2018. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from the captain of the "Bunga Kastori" stating their chief engineer was having difficulty breathing and was in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew were launched to the scene. The helicopter crew hoisted and transferred the crewmember to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Scholes International Airport in Galveston. Weather on scene was reported as 1-foot seas with 10 mph winds.
