Ferry ran into pier in Travemünde

Fri Nov 07 10:17:40 CET 2014 Timsen

On Nov 6, 2014, at 11.55 p.m. the "Transpulp" allided with a pier at the marina Rosenhof in Travemünde. The ship had sailed from the Nordland Quay in Lübeck one hour before and was bound for Gothenburg. In Travemünde the ship when turning to starboard while passing the Scandinavia Quay veered off its course and ran into the concrete pier of the marina which suffered severe damage. The bulbous bow of the vessel suffered damage too. None of the 15 crew members was injured. The water Lübeck-Travemünde launched an investigation. It was thought the accident was caused by an engine malfunction. The ferry had on board a pilot when the crash occurred. It was detained for investigations, but allowed to sail again on Nov 7 at 2.10 a.m. to be further surveyed after its arrival in Gothenburgon Nov 7 at 4.15 p.m. The ship left again around 8 p.m. bound for Kemi.
