Master died on board - ship grounded in Weser embankment
Underneath the Weser lock in Minden the "Theresia", 849 ts (EU-No.: 04029080), veered off course and got stuck in the Weser embankment on Sep 26, 2016. She was loaded with 660 tons pellets. Before the accident the 74-year old master suffered a heart attack. The unguided ship thus slammed into the embankment. The deckhand raised alarm. The emergency physician, once having got on board after some trouble to access the ship, could only determine the death of the master. Ambulance and water police with the Minden-based Launch "Gehlen" were on site.
