Barge allided with submerged jetty
On March 9, 2020, at 11 p.m. the 'Thekla', 1771 ts (EU-No.: 04003330), allided with a jetty on the Rhine at Colonia-Niehl, river km 699, which was submerged by the high water level. The ship suffered a leak at the starboard side bow and water ingress in the bow thruster room and the cabin in the foreship. Due to the threat of sinking it headed to the port basin 1 in Niehl with own power. The alerted fire brigade from Colonia assisted in dewatering the ship and deployed its fire boat. Early on March 10 the cargo of aluminum hydroxide was unloaded in the port to get the vessel higher in the water. The vessel berthed in Haren/Ems at a repair yard on March 28 at 6.50 p.m. and remained stationary as of April 2.
