Ship detained due to unpaid fuel debts

Fri Mar 30 11:04:32 CEST 2012 Timsen

The authority of Paradip Port Trust has detained the "Golden Falcon" and its 25 crew members by the directive of Mumbai High Court on Mar 27, 2012. The owners had neglected to pay the outstanding payment to a fuel supplier, the Singapore based fuel supply firm United Bunkering Trading Asia Pvt Ltd. The ship had arrived at Paradip on Mar 24 to discharge 12439 tons of RP Coke for Goa Carbon Limited. After discharging was completed on Mar 26, the ship was ready to sail for Goa for discharging its balance cargo. During this time, the authority of PPT was requested by the Mumbai High court to detain the ship. On receipt of the court order, the PPT authorities have shifted the ship to port anchorage from its working berth East Quay 1 after collecting the original ship’s certificates to avoid fleeing of ship from port.
